Fashion Moodboard

As I have chosen fashion for my regional magazine, I decided to create another moodboard representing a quick idea of fashion and its industry and aspects. It is obvious that fashion has been a huge cultural subject around the world for decades, and is quite a serious matter to individuals, and especially the media. Fashion can be plastered in almost every visible location. For example, on billboards, printed journalism, broadcasted live on television, throughout retail, and on the web. Therefore, it can be argued that it cannot be escaped from. Knowing this, it opens a lot of doors for me to add a lot of different kinds of content in my regional magazine.

Proposal

For my main task I will be creating a regional magazine, and base it around Fashion and Beauty that would be deemed as popular for women of the North East. I will include regional aspects by showing the city of Newcastle, Sunderland or Durham partnered with fashion. For example, I will have models wearing high fashion in the high streets of the different cities. I could also research into the locations and find local fashion stores that a lot of the public may not be aware of. These ideas are just preliminary, and there are lot of other aspects that I will be including in the long run, that I will elaborate on when further into my planning.

Regional Moodboard - The North East

When creating a media product about your own region, a way to express most aspects and themes is through a moodboard. You can see here in my own creation that I have produced and placed a range of images that specify to my own home region. Just from this one piece, I can demonstrate all of the moods, themes and atmospheres that I would have to try and capture when I am creating my own content on the North East.

AS Reflection

When looking back to my prints from AS media, I am proud overall of my creations, and generally happy with the final outcome of all of the magazine pages. I believe that I achieved the conventions that I had to include for the magazine to be a suitable print, but also suitable of my chosen genre.

I definitely carried and gained various strengths when producing this project. I believe that I included conventions and features that reflect Hip-Hop culture and genre. I also know the genre well, and this allowed me to create the most relevant content and idea, to ensure that the magazine would be a successful Hip-Hop product.

With this, I also had a few weaknesses. When looking back, I would agree that I could have allowed my magazine to relate more to traditional Hip-Hop, this including darker colours and a more 'grittier' effect. However, I did find from my research that this new style of a fresher and cleaner look along with the basis of the genre is extremely popular within print production, especially for my chosen genre.

The skills that I have learned over the past year will be
hugely significant when transferring to A2 media for various
reasons. When creating another media product, photoshop
will come in extremely handy, and now that I have a decent
understanding and know a range of skills, I can have further
confidence and gain a quicker start to my new projects.
